WVDNR Wildlife Diversity Program

Provides wildlife management expertise and helps protect sensitive species and habitats along the trail corridor.

WVDNR Cheat Canyon Wildlife Management Area

Manages wildlife areas through which the trail passes and coordinates access for hikers while protecting natural resources.

West Virginia State Trails Program

Coordinates statewide trail development and provides technical and financial support for trail projects.

Advocates for the protection of the Blackwater Canyon and surrounding highlands through which the trail passes.

Heart of the Highlands Trail System

Connects trails on public lands in Tucker County, West Virginia, creating a network of backcountry hiking opportunities.

Friends of the Greenbrier River Trail

Maintains and promotes the Greenbrier River Trail, connecting with other West Virginia trail systems.

Appalachian Trail Conservancy

Provides organizational guidance, volunteer training resources, and best practices for long-distance trail management.

American Hiking Society

National advocacy organization providing grants, volunteer programs, and resources for trail protection and maintenance.

American Trails

Members work to enhance and protect America’s growing network of interconnected trails, supporting local, regional, and long-distance trails in backcountry, rural, and urban areas.

The Kanawha Trace

Historic trail organization preserving and promoting trails throughout the Kanawha Valley region.
